Nordonia 8-4 (5-1) and North Royalton 6-4 (5-4) played a tight game on Tuesday, but the Bears pulled out the 9-6 victory, giving the Knights their first conference loss of the season. Despite struggling the day before at the plate, Nordonia collected 12 hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, it was the defense that was eluded the Knights in this game.

Nordonia committed five errors in the game and only two of the Bears nine runs were earned. North Royalton captured the lead in the second inning on a throwing error with two outs allowing the first run to score. The Bears tacked on two more on a RBI double and a fourth on another error.

The Knights responded with a two-out RBI single by Nathan O’Donnell in the bottom of the second cutting the lead to 4-1. After putting up a zero in the fourth inning, Nordonia scored five runs on RBI singles by Mike Hamrick, Mason Mimms, Peter Toula, and Robby Levak. North Royalton responded with two runs in the top of the fifth inning to knot the game six. The Knights defense struggled again in the sixth inning as an error gave the Bears a base runner to start the inning and they plated three runs to take a 9-6 advantage.

Hoffman earned the win for North Royalton. He threw four innings in relief, surrendering zero runs, four hits, and striking out five. Daniel Heiser (2-1) took the loss for Nordonia. He went five innings, giving up two earned runs, surrendering eleven hits, and striking out six. Hassel started the game for North Royalton. He went three innings, giving up six runs, eight hits, striking out three.

Trey Crockett, Peter Toula, and Nathan O’Donnell each collected multiple hits for Nordonia. Crockett went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Knights.
