The Lady Knights soccer team avenged an early season 3-0 loss to Kenston with a 2-1 victory over the Bombers. The Knights took a 1-0 lead on a well placed cross from Senior Kylie Kocab to Senior Jenna Toth. Toth one-touched the ball into the back of the net. Senior Jasmon Scott drew a well earned foul just outside the box in the second half. Kenton’s goalie was ushered off after receiving a yellow card for the offense. Freshman Sam Wiehe took advantage as she placed a beautiful ball off of the free kick into the upper corner for a 2-0 lead. Kenston scored a goal with 12 minutes left but the defense led by Freshman Grace Koperna and Sophomore Riley Saliga was dominant and the outcome was never in doubt. Sophomore defenders Sierra Boczkiewicz and Morgan Bugenske were vital in keeping the Bombers at bay. Senior Carmen Licht helped control the center of the field along with Junior Sophie Lim who seemd to win every 50-50 ball. Freshman Lindsey Beattie had seven saves and was outstanding and confident in the nets. Junior Tylar Thomas and Sophomore Carly Hanson provided energy and poise off of the bench and seemed to spark the total team effort.
The Knights return to action on Thursday (October 19th) when they travel to nearby Cuyahoga Falls to face off with D1 state ranked # 1 Walsh Jesuit at 7:00pm.
