I realize many of you have questions regarding athletics at the Nordonia Schools due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Please keep in mind that our number one priority is the safety and well-being of our students, staff and community. Therefore based on Governor DeWine’s recommendation along with the information obtained from health care officials, Nordonia schools will be doing our part to reduce the possibility of “community spread” of the virus. This means that all large group activities will be cancelled for the foreseeable future, including the upcoming Winter Sports Awards scheduled for Wednesday, March 18. All winter student-athletes will receive their awards that they have earned as timely as possible.
Effective immediately, all Nordonia school facilities will be closed to outside entities. It is our intent to greatly reduce the number of outside visitors to the schools and thus reduce the potential “community spread” of the virus. Going along with this theme, ALL overnight field trips have been cancelled for the foreseeable future. I realize this is going to be very disappointing for many of our students, parents and coaches but please keep in mind that safety is our number one priority. We will do our best to recoup all deposits and fees that have been previously paid for these trips.
While school is open, all Nordonia High School athletic practices are permitted to continue. However, in an effort to reduce “community spread” of the virus, all competitions (i.e. scrimmages, games) have been postponed for the foreseeable future. If schools are closed, all practices and competitions will be cancelled. No participation fees will be charged while we are dealing with the current situation.
These are unprecedented times and we appreciate your cooperation and understanding while we navigate through these uncharted waters. Should you have any questions, I will be available to provide my answers, advice and assistance. GO KNIGHTS!
